LLP "Institute of Coal Chemistry and Technology" together with LLP NPO "KazTechnoUgol" is engaged in the development of science-intensive and innovative technologies for the deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials (coal, gas) and man-made waste (MSW, poultry waste, livestock, crop production, sewage sludge, etc.). The team includes leading scientists (doctors and candidates of science, PhD, masters), a chemical engineer, an engineer. All participants have experience in scientific, industrial and commercial work. Evidence of this is the construction of a pilot plant for the production of gasoline and diesel fuel using Fischer-Tropsch technology.

The Institute has well-equipped research laboratories: - Laboratory of thermochemical processes; - Laboratory of nanocomposite carbon materials and nanocatalysts; - Laboratory of gas chemistry and electric discharge technologies; - Laboratory of processing carbon-containing waste; The laboratory of thermochemical processes is equipped with modern devices and equipment for conducting research and experimental tests on obtaining fuel briquettes, semi-coke, coke, smokeless fuel, adsorbent, etc. There is also equipment for analyzing coal, gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons and gas mixtures obtained during coal processing: - thermogravimetric analyzer for determining the technical characteristics of coal (ash content, moisture, volatility); - gas chromatograph for determining the composition of gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons; - high-temperature tubular furnace for obtaining carbon adsorbents, smokeless fuel, CNT; - calorimeter for determining the heat of combustion of coal, coal products. - laboratory press for tableting; The laboratory of nanocomposite carbon materials and nanocatalysts is fitted with modern equipment for conducting research on obtaining nanosorbents, nanocatalysts, CNTs, CNFs, graphene and other carbon-containing materials, allowing to select optimal process parameters - temperature, pressure, speed, gas flow rate, etc.: - high-temperature rotating tube furnace BR-12NRT for synthesis of nanosorbents, CNTs, graphene by CVD; - ultrasonic bath for extraction, dispersion and homogenization; - electrospinning for obtaining carbon nanofibers; - electric arc installation and welding machine ARC 500 (Z316) for obtaining CNTs and graphene-like materials; - voltammetric analyzer for determination of heavy metals TA-Lab (Cd, Zn, Pb, Cu. As and Fe) in liquid media; - rotary evaporator for removal and separation of liquids from solutions; - shaker-incubator for mixing liquids; - ion meter for determining cationic and anionic compositions of a solution; - spectrophotometer for determining the concentration of substances in liquid samples; - a unit for testing adsorbents for wastewater treatment in laboratory conditions; - a unit for testing adsorbents for drinking water treatment in laboratory conditions.

The laboratory of electrophysical processes is equipped with modern devices and equipment for conducting research and pilot tests on obtaining silica and alumina from ash and slag waste, humic and fulvic acids from oxidized brown coals under optimal technological conditions for carrying out processes. There are devices for magnetic treatment, homogenization, grinding, dispersion, intensification of various chemical and technological processes. There is also a high-voltage electric discharge unit designed to process liquid media (coal ash solutions, etc.): - ultrasonic bath for extraction, dispersion and homogenization; - medical laboratory centrifuge, cross rotor, 20 * 50 adapter; - electromagnetic device for magnetic processing; homogenization, grinding, dispersion; - potentiostat-galvostat R-4 The laboratory for processing carbon-containing waste is engaged in the development of technology for processing carbon-containing raw materials (MSW, coal waste, poultry waste (bird droppings) and livestock (cattle), rubber tires, textile cord, agricultural waste, sewage sludge).
